Baseball: remains resilient after loss

The Wildcats look to junior Rhett Fenton for leadership. During the classic, Fenton put up impressive numbers. Fenton was 7 for 15 with six RBI.
“With the small number of seniors we have on the roster and being one of the few returning players I feel like I play into part of the leadership role. I would say I lead more by example than vocally, I believe that playing hard and aggressively can be just as encouraging as vocally expressing yourself,” Fenton said.
Despite the close loss to Pacific Lutheran University, the Wildcats found a way to bounce back with a 12-2 victory against Puget Sound.
“Obviously the PLU loss was a disappointing one, but as a team we knew we needed to bounce back quickly because we were playing another quality conference opponent the next day in Puget Sound,” sophomore Eric Evenson said.
Brosius was pleased with the results of the tournament.
“Overall I felt we played pretty well over the weekend. We swung the bats well, for the most part played good defense, and were solid on the mound. Our goal is to play our best every game and let the wins and losses take care of themselves.”
Linfield plays against Pacific Lutheran Feb. 28, at 11 a.m. at Roy Hesler field in McMinnville.
