Men’s and women’s soccer fell to the Oregon Institute of Technology 5-0 and 3-0, respectively, in a Sunday afternoon doubleheader in McMinnville, Ore. The men’s team trailed 1-0 to their NAIA opponent at halftime. In a change of pace, the Owls added four goals in the second half to shut out the Wildcats. The women’s squad fell 3-0 to the Owls during their noon matchup on Sunday. The Owls totaled 16 shots on goal on the day, and the Wildcats took only two. Senior goalkeeper Alyssa Bakkensen recorded 13 saves. Both teams will play two more exhibition games before starting their Northwest Conference schedules on Saturday, Sept. 18. The men will travel to Walla Walla, Wash. to face-off against Whitman College at 2:30 p.m. and the women will host Willamette University at home, starting at noon.

The Linfield football team beat Canada’s Simon Fraser University in their season-opening game at home on Saturday, Sept. 11. The Wildcats, led by senior quarterback Wyatt Smith, outscored SFU in all but one of the quarters, finishing 56-20. Linfield will head down south to the University of Redlands next week.
