Experienced musical actor shines

Heather McClellan
Senior Zane Johnston, a theater major with a minor in math, plays the lead character of Don Quixote in the musical “Man of La Mancha.”
“[Being in the musical] has been a different experience from normal theater,” Johnston said. “It is definitely enjoyable to be working with the music department, even though at times it can be frustrating.”
Johnston has been involved in theater since he was young.
“I started doing plays when I was six,” Johnston said. “From then on, I was in at least two plays a year.”
After graduating, he plans to move to either New York City or Los Angeles to pursue his acting career.
“There is nothing else like the adrenaline rush you get when you are performing,” Johnston said. “I love the thrill of being on stage.”
He said it is also a possibility that he could go to graduate school.
“I won’t go to graduate school right away,” he said. “I want to try and make it in the world first. I might eventually go because it opens more possibilities.”
