Team returns from Vermont

Brianne Ries

In the last Forensics tournament of the year, April 3-5, senior Morgan St. Jean and sophomore Colin Jones ended the preliminary rounds in 19th place advancing into the octafinal.
The 2009 U.S. Universities British-Parliamentary Debate Tournament, held by the University of Vermont, welcomed 124 teams from India, Israel, the United Kingdom, Canada and schools across the United States, St. Jean said.
“To make it to 19th place was incredible,” she said.
Jackson Miller, associate professor of communication arts and director of forensics, was selected as one of 24 out of 93 judges to judge the octafinals and quarterfinal rounds.
This tournament marked the last of St. Jean’s as a Linfield student.
“It is definitely bittersweet,” she said. “It was a great way to end on a high note and I am very proud.”
