We have sprung forward and lost an hour of sleep, but that means the official start of the spring season is creeping up. Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day is the perfect way to start off the new season with a variety of festivities. Many individuals, who of course are at least the age of 21, commemorate the Irish holiday with a BORG in hand. A “blackout rage gallon,” better known as a BORG, is a gallon-sized jug filled with alcohol and a mixer, often decorated with a pun including the word “BORG.”
Often taking social media by storm during this holiday season are videos of BORG enthusiasts proudly showing off their unique names. From classic puns that return yearly to current pop culture references, choosing your BORG’s name can be extremely difficult. So, to help, here is my personal ranking of the funniest and most classic BORG names for 2026…
10. Rattlin’ BORG
A true classic BORG name that honors the Irish drinking song “Rattlin’ Bog.” This one made the list for being reused every year and somehow not losing comedic effect.
9. Wouldn’t you like to know, weatherBORG?
If you do not understand this reference, then you are surely missing out.
8. The GettysBORG Address
This name is truly only funny because of how unusual it is. Extra points if you write the speech on the jug.
7. Ilya BORGanov and Shane HollenBORG
A play on the names of the two main characters from HBO’s 2025 award-winning show, “Heated Rivalry.” Although I did not watch the show, I was unable to escape the chatter both online and offline, so I suspect these names will be quite popular.
6. John BORG is calling…
Although the somewhat creepy human-pig meme has been around for a few years now, it will most likely make its return this year. Slightly unfunny depending on who you ask, but still a clever pun.
5. The Notorious B.O.R.G. OR NBA YoungBORG
Both of these play on rappers’ names, and both are equally clever. Could be a great conversation starter for fans!
4. Onika BORGers
The meme “Onika Burgers” arose in 2023 after Twitter beef between a Nicki Minaj fan and a hater was subject to social media spotlight. This reference may be older, but it will definitely be in my thoughts this BORG season.
3. Danielle BORGoli vs Alabama BORGker
A more recent pop culture BORG name that refers to an internet feud between Daniele Bergoli, more commonly known as the “Catch me outside, how ‘bout that” girl, and Alabama Barker, daughter of famous musician Travis Barker. Slightly less popular than the other pop culture references, but hopefully it has its time to shine this St. Patty’s Day!
2. I’m a goofy gooBORG / DoodleBORG
Because who doesn’t love a SpongeBob reference in the big 2026? These could be done as a pair, so it’s perfect if you and a friend are celebrating together. If you’re artistic, a drawing to match the name would be a fun touch!
1. BORGmaxxing
My top 2026 BORG name, as I expect it to be in high demand due to the longevity of the “looksmaxxing” meme. “Looksmaxxing” is a popular trend for young men that encourages them to enhance their appearance through a variety of techniques that range from simply working out, all the way to extreme methods like hormone injections. No matter the unseriousness behind the internet trend, it will undoubtedly make its appearance on many BORG’s this St. Patrick’s Day.
Have a safe and BORGtastic St. Patrick’s Day Linfield students!
