On March 13, Aaron Godfred, an executive in the Digital Media Department at Creative Artists Agency (CAA) and Linfield alumnus, gave two presentations to students about his career as a content producer and filmmaker.
Godfred held two different sessions. The first focused on film and video production, while the second focused on social media. In these talks, he shared his career story and took questions from students.
The central message of the talks was to keep creating and find a career doing what one loves.
Godfred answered a wide range of questions from students, including sharing his thoughts on breaking through barriers, the effect of regulation on social media content creation and the impact of artificial intelligence on the industry. Godfred was optimistic about the future of content creation.
Godfred graduated from Linfield in 2002, and after working a handful of jobs including one at a rival industry to CAA, discovered his love of filmmaking. Godfred has never looked back since having worked with celebrities like Matt Daemon and Morgan Freeman.
The insights that Godfred gave into the industry and how to get started were valuable to students.
“It was very interesting to hear some real-world experience,” Nolan Helgerson, a sport management and journalism and media studies double major, said. “It was like someone’s journey to finding out what they were good at and what they excel at.”
The event was hosted by the Department of Journalism and Media Studies.
