TableTop Role Playing Games (TTRPGS) like the famous Dungeons & Dragons have united people across the country for generations through the medium of oral storytelling in a High Fantasy setting, and the presence of that is also here at Linfield.

The Linfield TTRPG Club is a club where people can come together and bond over these games, playing campaigns in various TTRPG genres like Monster of the Week. The Linfield Review talked with the leader and founder of the club, Jack Burgess, to talk with him about the TTRPG Club.

First and foremost, the club is about connecting with others over games within the TTRPG genre. Sometimes the club will do other things during meetings, like playing Jackbox games or watching a movie.

“When I started at Linfield, I was really lonely. I didn’t have a place to be, a place to belong,” said Jack Burgess founder of TTRPG. “I primarily created this club to make a place to hopefully make some new friends, but now, I consider it a safe space for anybody who may need one. It’s a place for connection through more than just games.”
The club’s Discord server is at 21 members and everyone interacts there to connect even outside of club meetings. The club meets twice a week.

“The best part of the club is the people. I talk about it all the time,” said Burgess. The club is my pride and joy, and it wouldn’t be that without the people in it. We’re all here for each other, and it’s wonderful to watch the way my players interact through the sessions I run.”

Jack says the primary reason people should join the club is to use TTRPG games to both have fun and also form connections with their peers on Lindfields campus.

People can enjoy the club by simply showing up to a meeting, currently planned for Tuesdays and Fridays in TJ Day 110 at 7pm, or by shooting Burgess an email.
