Linfield beats George Fox at home

The Linfield Wildcats defended their home turf Saturday afternoon, defeating the visiting Bruins of George Fox 38-7. 

Linfield got the scoring going quickly on a 27-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Wyatt Smith to wide receiver Devon Murray, capping off a six-play 75-yard drive.

Murray led the Wildcats in receiving with eight receptions for 89 yards and tacked on another touchdown in the third quarter. 

The Linfield backfield tandem of running backs Connor Morton and Connor McNabb rushed for 95 yards and 56 yards, respectively. Both had a touchdown on the ground as well. Linfield gained 164 yards on the ground, out-rushing the Bruins by 98 yards. Wide receiver Colton Smith scored a touchdown on a jet sweep from the two-yard line as well. 

The Wildcats utilized their high-volume offense to jump out ahead early on the Bruins, scoring touchdowns on four of their first five drives in the first half. 

Smith tossed two touchdowns, both to Murray, 239 yards and one interception. 

Senior Drew Starkel made one of his four field goal attempts, converting on his last one from 31 yards. 

Defensively, linebacker Blake Rybar led the Wildcats with 11 tackles, nine of which were solo tackles. Defensive backs Ben Baxter and Tyler Sitton both recorded interceptions as well for the Wildcat defense. 

The Wildcats will travel south next Saturday to take on Willamette at 1:00 p.m.
