Hewitt quarantine lifted, all but three students negative

Hewitt Hall’s quarantine was lifted on Monday morning, according to an email sent to the Linfield University community late Sunday night. Hewitt residents have been quarantining since Jan. 29, after several positive COVID-19 cases were linked to the hall.

Residents have been tested twice for COVID-19 since the first cases were reported, most recently on Friday, Feb. 5. Three tests returned positive and the students were moved into isolation quarters in another building. Roommates of the positive students are being quarantined elsewhere on campus.

“Yamhill County Public Health notified us of the test results [Sunday], and is comfortable with the remainder of the Hewitt residents returning to in-person classes, work-study jobs, and Dillin Hall dining starting Monday,” said Scott Nelson, Chief Marketing Officer for Linfield, in the email sent Sunday evening. “This is an example of the Hewitt quarantine working as intended.”
