The Linfield-Good Samaritan School of Nursing will have a new dean come the 2018-’19 academic year.

Kim Dupree Jones is transitioning from her job as a professor of nursing and medicine at Oregon Health & Science University, where she received her doctorate. Her research has focused on fibromyalgia, a chronic pain disorder most commonly seen in women. Jones has published more than 100 texts in this area of study and done 60 studies on fibromyalgia.

Vice President for Academic Affairs Susan Agre-Kippenhan said she is “thrilled” Jones is filling the position in August, which is being held by an interim dean for the rest of this academic year.

Agre-Kippenhan emphasized Jones’s extensive research, her experience in the field, and how much she values a liberal education in nursing as reasons that prove “she’s a perfect fit for Linfield.”

Jones said it was the school’s positive reputation and shared value it places on nursing for serving communities that drew her to the position. She looks forward to working with Linfield students, faculty, staff and other Linfield community members.

“I am honored to lead the school during this transformational time for both higher education and healthcare.”
