Linfield premiers New York Times bestseller’s first play

An experienced writer has to be versatile and willingly to experiment with their works.

Accomplished author Carrie Vaughn, keeps pushing herself to when it comes to her writing.

Vaughn’s catalog includes riveting short stories as well as carefully crafted young adult novels.

Her most well known work is the Kitty Norville series, which tells the story of a teenage werewolf.

The Kitty Norville series is so thrilling and well written that it has earned the recognition of the NEW YORK TIMES.

Although Carrie has received one of the highest writing honors there is, she is not satisfied.

The theater department here at Linfield College has had the honor of premiering Vaughn’s first play.

When asked if the playwriting process was different from her usual writing process Vaughn said, “ [It was] A really wonderful opportunity. ”  she also commented, “ [ I had a ] Really great experience.”

Her observations about other individual’s experiences with technology  was the inspiration for her play.

Carrie said, “ I want them to think about their identity.”

As her play, “Simulation”, was being constructed Carrie repeatedly asked herself what it means to have a “digital self”.

Vaughn said, “ It gave me an opportunity to think about something I don’t usually. ”

The play was extremely well received by the audience. Which means that Vaughn is an accomplished novelist as well as a proficient playwright.

Vaughn has repeatedly experimented with her writing and it has paid off. From novelist to playwright  Carrie Vaughn keeps pushing the boundaries of her work and we hope to see more of her material in the future.
