HHPA to host health fair, fun run

Sara Levering, Staff Writer

The Health, Human Performance and Athletics department at Linfield will be hosting a health fair titled “Commit to be Fit” on Saturday, May 14 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. in the Linfield Ted Wilson Gymnasium.

It is student led by students from school health programs and applied exercise physiology. The fair will include health screenings and a 5K fun run/walk on campus with raffles and prizes.

“Commit to be Fit” will benefit the SNACK program of Yamhill County. The SNACK program encourages behavior changes geared toward healthy eating habits and active living for children and their families within the county, since childhood obesity is an increasing problem.

SNACK holds to the belief that healthy children means healthy adults and healthy communities.

The cost of participation for the 5K is seven dollars for Linfield students with identification and 10 dollars for community members that desire to participate.
