Women’s lacrosse falls to Whitman

No roadblocks could stop the lacrosse girls from playing their best home game yet.

Trouble started before the players even stepped foot on the field. The game was relocated from the astroturf in the Catdome to the soccer field.

This change posed a slight problem for our ’Cat Lax girls because the majority of the season has taken place on the astroturf, the switch meant the players were unfamiliar with the terrain, which translated to ground balls being lost.

The soccer field also contributed to a slightly twisted ankle Emily Mishko received at the six minute mark of the first half, although she quickly recovered thanks to some ice.

Despite these events our girls came through for us with another great performance.

Mae Seifert scored one goal in the first half and two more in the second.

Amber Kaholoaa fought through the defense to score a goal at the two minute mark of the first half.

With one minute left in the game, Kelsey Dammarell also scored a goal bringing Linfield’s total to 5.

Throughout the game Rebecca Kimball blocked shot attempts left and right.

“There were a few I could have saved but I kept going,” Rebecca Kimball said about her performance.

Once the last horn blew it turned out that the score was 16-5 in Whitman’s favor. Although Whitman won, this game really showed us the perseverance our ’Cat Lax girls possess.
