Lacrosse falls to Wooster, improves defensively

Mickayla-Bay Washington, For the Review

We asked our Wildcats to be more aggressive and they definitely heard us.

’Cat Lax’s second home game looked more like a highlight reel than a losing match-up between Wooster and our girls.

Mae Seifert, Makayla Khatewoda, and Genna Hughes all had morale boosting runs toward the goal throughout the game.

At the seven minute mark, in the second half, Hughes catapulted a beautifully angled shot into Wooster’s goal bringing the score to 3-19.

On the defensive front the team is growing by leaps and bounds. Every shot attempt made by Wooster was definitely a battle.

“We all fought really hard and our defense played their best game yet. We all communicated really well and I’m proud of how much improvement our team continues to make,” Vanessa Van Horn said.

“I feel like we fought really hard,” Emily Mishko said.

Mishko and Van Horn had good moments, pertaining to defense, during the game as well. Mishko continually defended the midfield with a vengeance while Van Horn out ran the Wooster girls during the whole game.

Rebecca Kimball, goalkeeper, performed extremely well. She blocked multiple shot attempts during the first half, which served to boost morale among her teammates.

It’s fair to say that regardless of the score (20-3 in Wooster’s favor ) our girls did very well. With each game progress is made offensively and defensively. The ’Cat Lax girls are putting in serious work and it’s showing on the field.
