The Linfield Wildcat men are off to a rocky start. In pre-season, the team faced four Southern California teams ending with a 1-3 record.

The ’Cats are heading into regular season on February 20th against the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington.

Head coach Ben Belleto plans to rebuild and make the men’s tennis team strong in the coming years.

When interviewed in the fall, he was optimistic about the men’s tennis team but acknowledged that it would take time and it would not happen overnight.

It’s a very young team and this is not an easy conference to contend with, there is a lot of competition in this conference.

The men faced Cal Tech, Occidental, Chapman and Redlands. The first match of the California showdown was a near shutout by Cal Tech beating the Wildcats 8-1.

The next day the ’Cats won decisively against Occidental winning 7-2. Chapman and Redlands managed to shut out the Wildcats 9-0.

With conference play coming up, the Wildcats go on the road to Tacoma to face Puget Sound on Saturday at 1pm and on Sunday against Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon at noon.
