Jazz Night promises soothing sounds, fun

The last Jazz Night of the year at Linfield promises to bring fun, laughter and the soothing sounds of jazz.

The Linfield Jazz Band will play a variety of selections, ranging from the big band style of Glenn Miller to the distinctive sounds of the band Earth, Wind, and Fire.

This will be the last Jazz Night for seniors Evan Tracy, alto saxophone; Amanda Pierce, trumpet; Gabe Wells, trombone; Christian Santangelo; drums; and vocalists Jaimie McDonald and Cassandra Pangelinan.

McDonald, Pangelinan, and Megan Uhrinak will sing standards made famous by The Andrews Sisters, a trio who entertained the troops with their harmonies during World War II.

The evening will also feature a solo by sophomore Parker Wells, tap dancing to Count Basie’s “Cute.”

Jazz night is at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 15, in Ice Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.
