About
About The Linfield Review
Founded in 1896, The Linfield Review is one of the oldest college newspapers in the Pacific Northwest. The newspaper traces its history to the first issue of “The Review,” published January 1896 when the college was called McMinnville College. On Jan. 11, 1922, McMinnville College became Linfield College because of a $250,000 gift from Mrs. Frances Eleanor Ross Linfield. To commemorate the change to the college, the newspaper added to its title to become The Linfield Review.
The Review has a cherished tradition of journalistic integrity and excellence and counts numerous national and local awards to its name. 115 years after its founding, having grown from a newspaper published monthly and edited by the college’s president to a fully-online publication put together entirely by students, The Linfield Review continues to stand by its mission of being a vehicle for free expression.

The Linfield Review is produced by a dedicated student staff. Most of the reporters are freshmen and sophomores, while the editorial staff is, with few exceptions, composed of upperclassmen.
The Linfield Review publishes all of its work digitally to The Linfield Review news site as well on social media. In fall 2019 the newspaper shifted from printing every other Monday during the academic year to being online only. The decision was made to become a better resource to the entire Linfield community and for the sustainability of the newspaper.

Joining The Linfield Review
Any member of the Linfield College community can join the Review’s staff. Generally, new staffers start off covering general news, sports and cultural events; taking photos; creating graphics; or selling ads. Normally, the editorial staff is hired at the end of each academic year, so staff positions are not available. However, if a spot opens up, the Review welcomes staffers from all years and majors – opportunities are always available.
If you are interested in joining the Review as a reporter, photographer, graphic designer, ad representative, cartoonist or working on the website, contact the editor-in-chief, Tori Schuller, at [email protected].
