While last week was the first week of school, bringing a new term, new classes and new faces, it was also a big week for the girls! Along with the excitement of the fall semester, pop culture supplied enough excitement to last the whole year. If you’ve missed it, Taylor Swift got engaged, pumpkin spice returned to Starbucks and Sabrina Carpenter released her new album all within the same week.
On the second day of school, Aug. 26, Taylor Swift announced her engagement to Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce on Instagram. On Tuesday, at 1 p.m. EDT, Swift broke the internet with photos of her engagement in a blossoming flower garden with the caption, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” She included photos of the proposal and her giant rock of an engagement ring, along with other posed engagement photos.
On that very same day, Starbucks came back with its seasonal pumpkin spice flavoring! Throughout the long day of fresh classes, students visited Starbucks to get into the fall spirit with various pumpkin spice drinks, a fan favorite being the Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai Latte. Whether you enjoy pumpkin spice or not, many consider this day a national holiday for the girls.
The first week of classes ended with a bang with the release of Sabrina Carpenter’s new album “Man’s Best Friend,” featuring the summer hit “Manchild.” The album includes 12 songs and is approximately a 38-minute listen. Following the success of her previous album released around the same time last year, fans were excited to hear Carpenter’s new hits. From a charts standpoint, she didn’t miss with the catchy, pop songs.
While some may or may not be excited about the return of classes, homework and exams, the first week back was an eventful one, especially for the girls. Who will be on the up next?
