Linfield Theatre is about to open their first full-length play of the season. “The Wolves” is a play written by Sarah Delappe about a girls highschool soccer team preparing for their season and growing closer as a team. This show also deals with mental and physical health and the struggles of growing up.
The cast of this show is excited to welcome people to their show. In speaking with Madeline Chandler who is playing #25 in the show, she said “People should come see the show because it’s a breath of fresh air. It’s raw and vulnerable, but also funny and heartwarming.” The design department has also created a new unique set for the show. There is now a soccer field with a goal built inside of the black box theatre.
This show consists of the teammates talking during practice. Kaitlin Harwood’s favorite part of the show is “how life like the dialogue is,” and said that it feels like they “are all just friends talking on stage.” To prepare, the cast has also been playing soccer together in order to bond and make the show more realistic. Madeline said, “Besides just lines and locking, we’ve spent so much time having fun scrimmaging or walking through team dynamics we don’t see in the show,” and said “the depth to which we understand our characters is amazing, and makes the show more authentic.”
Opening night for this show is Oct. 26 at 7:30pm in the Marshall Theatre in Ford Hall. There is also a special show on Nov. 2 at 7:30 that will include a post show panel on “Gender, Sport and Health.” The final show will be Nov. 5 at 2pm.
If you don’t want to miss out on this fun show, you can go to the theatre department’s website to buy tickets online, or purchase them at the box office before the show. The cast hopes to see you there.
