Pirates capture the match

Match after match, the Linfield Wildcats unfortunately could not claim victory this time around and the Southwestern Pirates won the game. Southwestern won with a match score of 9-0, leaving Linfield with no match points on the board at the end of the game.

“The game was intense and we competed hard in every single match,” sophomore Nathan Saragoza said about the experience.

Senior Ben McNair talked about the matches throughout the game. “We had a lot of close singles matches, but otherwise I think our relative inexperience in different spots in the lineup contribute to the losses,” said McNair.

The team has few ideas on how to move forward for future games by working hard and improving their technique. “We want to go out there and play hard and execute what we have been working on,” said Saragoza. His teammate McNair shares the same insight when it comes to improving the team. “I think the main focus is trying to get as much match play experience so that we are better prepared next time,” said McNair.

The team will have more upcoming matches this spring semester. Next Friday, the Wildcats will play against Austin college and than Saturday against Bellevue the day after.
