Linfield Men’s Basketball lost to division I Eastern Washington University Friday night in a hard fought battle, 47-70.

Linfield struggled with outside shooting making only two of 17 three point attempts, a mere 11%. The team was lead in scoring by Riley Bruil, ’19, with nine points. The 47 points were spread out across ten different players all scoring at least two points.

Playing a division I team was a challenge for the Wildcats, but they were determined to not stop fighting. The team fell to a double digit lead early; however, they were proud of the fight they made, getting the lead down to five.

“Our defense was really active, and our energy throughout the game stayed high,” Liam O’Reily, ’19, said. Liam is new to Linfield this year and has already been a key player for the ‘Cats.

The defense was very active with a total of twelve steals, which was seven more than the Eagles had.

All and all the exhibition game was a good challenge for the ‘Cats to see what they could improve upon for the upcoming conference games.

The next time the ‘Cats will take the floor will be Saturday November 19, 2016 in Santa Cruz, California.
