A former Linfield College baseball coach has been added to the Seattle Mariners coaching staff, according to an article released today by Mariners News.

After eight years of coaching at Linfield, and a year as the Tacoma Rainiers hitting coach, Scott Brosius is now one of seven assistant coaches on the Mariners roster.

“He will be a great asset to the organization and I think before his career is over he will become a big league manager,” Head Linfield baseball coach Scott Carnahan said, who was an assistant coach while Brosius coached at Linfield.

Brosius also has 11 years of experience as a Major League Baseball player. As a New York Yankee, he was an American League All-Star in 1998 followed by the Gold Glove winner in 1999.

During his time as a coach at Linfield, Brosius led the baseball team to winning seasons from 2008 to 2015, including a 2013 NCAA Division III championship.

Due to his experience, Brosius has a lot to offer as a Mariners coach.

“He is very knowledgeable and develops great relationships with players so they have confidence in his opinions. He has been there himself so he knows the issues that come up and will have understanding on how to help find solutions,” Carnahan said.
