Both Wildcats and Bearcats were not able to see the net after 110 minutes of play in Salem. ‘Cats had to play hard to prevent the hosts from netting by making a total of 6 saves in the entire game. Sarah Bailey, ’19 the ‘Cats goalkeeper was the savior making 3 saves in first and second half. Willamette and Linfield tied 0-0.

   “We had a lot of shots against Willamette, it was just unfortunate having to go into double overtime another game this season and not being able to bury our opportunities” Emily Muth, ’19, said.

        Bearcats had the most shots with a total of 15, the Wildcats with 10. The ‘Cats best chance came in the 43rd minute when Jamie Mars, ’19, crossed a ball in the box and Taylor Cole, ’20, just missing the head wide.

        “Each player was smart and technical in their passing. It was great team effort from all of us. We were able to get more shots in the game than our previous games, but it was not our day,” Taylor said after the 0-0 draw with Willamette.

        Sunday afternoon was a different day for the Wildcats as they defeated Lewis & Clark 2-1 in a rainy atmosphere. It was an away game again for the ‘Cats, but that did not stop them from getting a lead and eventually claiming the victory. Mary Cait Moriarty, ’20, scored first in the 30th minute and  Amidee Colleknon, ’20, scored the second in the 44th minute.

       Both freshmen made a debut netting in a collegiate game and indeed scoring important goals for Linfield. “First, I think Mary Cait’s goal was so awesome and she’s been so close to getting a goal like that all season. Overall I thought we all did a really good job today and I’m excited for the second half of our season,” Colleknon said.

       Caroline Hennes scored the only goal Lewis & Clark in the 70th minute, unfortunately the home team could not find another goal in the remaining 20 minutes. The 2-0 lead was enough to earn three points for the ‘Cats. “The two games this weekend showed that even with bad conditions our team can still preserver and play our game. I believe my goal shows the team and I that anything can happen when you take the opportunity to shoot” said Mariarty ’20.

       Linfield Wildcats now prepare to face the Pacific Lutheran. Last meeting between the two teams was 2-2 draw, after an overtime play. Currently the ‘Cats record stands to be 4-7-3 overall and 4-3-3 in the Northwest Conference.
