September 17, 2016
Linfield football’s face-off on Saturday against the University of Mary Hardin- Baylor, a team that historically has battled with the ‘Cats for dominance in Division III playoffs, left Linfield stunned.
The’Cats were defeated 66-27.
While Linfield was down by only four points going into the locker room at the half, 24-20, they couldn’t keep up with the harsh pace set by UMHB.
Ending the game in a heartbreaking fashion, UMHB scored the final touchdown of the game in the last five minutes of the game.
Sam Riddle, ’17, threw for three touchdowns to three receivers, continuing to show that although UMHB may have beaten the Wildcats, Linfield’s depth continues to shine.
He also completed 25 of 37 passes with two interceptions.
Overall, the ‘Cats barely rushed at all, making 90 yards. For the most part, they relied on air attacks, outpacing the Crusaders by more than 100 yards.
The ‘Cats will rest this weekend as they prepare to take on the Lewis and Clark College Pioneers on Saturday, Oct. 1 at Maxwell Stadium for the ‘Cats Homecoming game.
