New club aims to help build houses, community
February 29, 2016
The Habitat for Humanity club is new this year at Linfield. Members will be working with the already established McMinnville Area Habitat for Humanity.
Students will be working alongside future residents of each house they help to build, club secretary Tristan Dahl says.
The goal of Habitat for Humanity is to build affordable housing for low income families.
“[Habitat for Humanity] really helps the community,” club president David Flores says.
Students who join will do activities ranging from building fences and painting houses to working in the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. The ReStore accepts home furnishings and building supplies which it resells for a profit that goes towards the organization.
Flores says the club hopes to volunteer at least twice a month.
The next club meeting is at 6 p.m. on March 10 in TJ Day room 219. Contact David Flores at [email protected] or visit the “Linfield Habitat for Humanity Club” Facebook page for more informaton.
