Wet ‘Cats host the first preseason meet

Linfield is hosting the Northwest Conference Sprint Meet this year.

The Wildcat swimmers will take on seven of the nine Northwest Conference schools in a large, preseason meet at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 at home. It is scheduled to last until 2 p.m.

Lewis & Clark and Whitman will not be attending.

Every swimmer from each team competes in all the scheduled events. The winning team is determined by adding all swimmers’ times up for a school total and the lowest collective time gets first place.

This competition is different from the regular meets, which include more events and the swimmers are limited to competing in three races.

This season, on the men’s side, swimmers to look out for include Noah Cutting, Daisuke Fitial, Trevor Gourley, and Joseph Simpson.

On the women’s side, Evette Dow, Kaedi Fry, Tahni Kakazu, Vianka Hoyer, and Molli Hartzell are expected to place near the top of the rankings.
