Food, festivities to celebrate Hispanic heritage

Linfield students from three clubs and other organizations have collaborated to plan the Hispanic Heritage Celebración.

The three-hour event will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 22 in the Rutschman Field House.

Students can participate in activities such as face painting and opening piñatas.

Musicians Edna Vazquez and Melao de Cuba will be performing, as well as students. Foods from various cultures will be served for free.

Linfield’s chapter of Latinx Adelante has planned this event in the past and called it Fiesta Latina, student coordinator Claudia Herrera said.

This year, LCLA changed the name to include more countries and worked with other Hispanic clubs.

The Hispanic Heritage Celebración is being sponsored by the Spanish Club, LCLA, ASLC, the Diversity Advisory Committee, Student Affairs, Global Languages and Cultural Studies, MEChA and Multicultural Programs and Services.
