Amantha Hood, Editor-in-chief

The month of October is the month of Domestic Violence Awareness. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have experienced physical violence from their partner. Domestic violence tends to have a stigma, only pertaining to physical abuse.

This particular stigma is the reason awareness for this topic, is of importance. Domestic violence can include verbal and emotional abuse, sexual abuse, threats, intimidation, stalking, blackmail, and other negative impacts on a person.

There are resources for people looking for help, including a National Domestic Violence Hotline, which is 1-800-799-SAFE.
