The Wildcats battled fiercely against the Boxers in a rare weekday match Wednesday night in Forest Grove. The game ended in double overtime 0-1.

The ’Cats and Boxers had even possession of the ball throughout the game; however, Linfield was outshot 15-5. The Boxers’ goal happened in minute 108:33, the second period of overtime.

The first goal came from a one versus one against the goalkeeper Sarah Bailey, ’19. The shot came to goalkeepers left side from 12 yards out. Bailey had a total of five saves for the night.

The first shot of the game went high taken by Taylor Cole, ’20, 1:27 minutes into the first half. The ’Cats had a total of five shots, taken by Karlee Willcox, ’19, Mary Cait Moriarty, ’20, Amidee Colleknon, ’20, and Cole.

Cole thought that the Wildcats fought hard against the Boxers.

“We fought hard, it just didn’t fall our way,” Cole said.

Cole added, “I think we need to work on possessing the ball in key areas, particularly the final third so we are able to get more chances going to goal.”

When asked what her favorite point of the game was, Cole said, “The first half when we were getting a lot of shots on goal and pressing them hard.”

The Wildcats had seven corner kicks, six in the second half and one in period two of overtime.
